Cathy’s Creative Dance School November Newsletter THANK YOU . . . ...to Miss Julie W. and all the dancers and parents who participated in the Independence Halloween Parade. We had a great time, beautiful weather and a terrific turn out! A special thank you to Paul Dover and Darrin Sigmon from Alliance Pump and Mechanical for providing the truck, trailer, driver and assistance with setting up the float. A huge thanks goes to Liz Bedell and family for the AWESOME “Gotham City” decorations. If any parents have digital photos taken at the Halloween Parade, we would love to include them in our 2009 yearbook. Please put them on a CD marked “Halloween Parade” with your name and leave it in the office. Thanks. “MISS/MR. DANCE” COMPETITION Thirteen of Cathy’s Creative Dance students competed in the “Miss and Mr. Dance” Title Competition for Dance Masters of America on October 25. Congratulations goes to 2009 Junior Miss Dance—Kelsey McGrath. Kelsey will compete for a National title in Washington D.C. in July of 2009. Audition scholarship winners were: Acro: Kristen Riddle-first place, Lexi Pardee-2nd place; Jazz: Jordann Barron & Melissa Zeysing-tie 2nd place; Tap: Melissa Zeysing-2nd place; Overall: Melissa Zeysing-2nd place and Kristen Riddle-3rd place. Other participants included Teri Ann Cooper, Rachel Edmunds, Brianna Francis, Rachel Mead, Karli Raines, Ashley Robertson, and Emily Tillman. Brittany Pardee and Luke Atkison also performed as the 2008 reigning title winners. CHRISTMAS PERFORMANCE We will have our annual Christmas dance performance on Saturday, December 20 at 2:00 pm. Parents will be receiving notes from teachers regarding costumes or clothing students will be wearing for their routine. The performance will be held at Truman Memorial Building in Independence. There will be an admission charge of $1.00 per person for the use of the facility. This is an informal show and the first opportunity for many students to perform in front of an audience. We look forward to sharing this gift of music and dance with our family and friends. RECITAL COSTUMES Students are being measured during classes for their recital costumes. We allow extra inches for growth. Additional costume fees for many students are due November 15th. All costume payments (dance and acro) must be paid in full by December 15 or costumes will not be ordered. PARENT WATCH CLASSES Parent Watch classes will be scheduled from December 1—18. Complete Parent Watch schedule will soon be posted on the bulletin board in the lobby and on the website. Due to limited parking and seating we ask only parents or guardians attend. If you must bring small children to parent watch classes, please make sure their behavior will not be distracting to other parents, dancers or teachers. Thank you. THANKSGIVING VACATION Cathy’s Creative Dance School will be closed November 24-28 for the Thanksgiving holiday. We hope you enjoy this special time with family and friends!
